Bog oak and metal – gold, copper, brass and steel in bespoke furniture

Combined with bog oak, metal plays two roles: structural and decorative. Steel gives furniture lightness and stability, while gold, copper or brass bring a warm, refined accent to the deep black of the wood.

Metal as structure

Metal bases for tables and coffee tables showcase the bog oak top while keeping a graphic, light silhouette. That is how our bog oak dining tables on metal bases and the Aurum Arc coffee table were made. The shape, profile and colour of the base can be designed for a specific interior.

Metal as an accent

Gold leaf, gold flakes and copper set in resin create an effect that changes with the light. Examples include the Copper Rift and Aurum Grain coffee tables and the gold-leaf bathroom cabinet. Our candle holders use gold-tone metal cups.

Decisions worth making early

  • Metal colour and finish – polished, brushed, matt, patinated.
  • Consistency with other elements – taps, lighting, handles.
  • Weight and stability – a solid bog oak top needs a properly engineered base.
  • Use – for bathrooms and kitchens we choose moisture-resistant solutions.

We enjoy working with designers who have their own idea for the metal structure. We will discuss it, propose technical solutions and prepare a quote.
