Bog oak and natural stone – pairings for premium interiors
Bog oak and stone are natural partners: both materials formed over thousands of years and both have a pattern that cannot be repeated. Together they create a contrast of texture – warm, matt wood next to cool, smooth stone.
Light stone, black wood
White marble or travertine next to bog oak creates a strong, graphic contrast, similar to the one we achieve with white resin in coffee tables such as Bianco Oro. In a living room this could be a bog oak coffee table on a stone floor or a console next to a marble fireplace.
Dark stone, tone on tone
Slate or graphite granite next to bog oak gives a monolithic effect – calm, almost architectural. Texture then defines the character: brushed wood next to flamed stone.
Stone in furniture
If the project calls for a combination within one piece – for example a stone inlay in a tabletop – we will discuss feasibility, the joining method and the choice of material. We can also set small stones in resin, as we already do in our candle holders.
What to keep in mind
- Wood and stone expand differently – the joint must allow for this.
- Weight – stone significantly increases the weight of the piece and the demands on the base.
- Finish – matt wood with polished stone, or both matt, are two different effects.
